Green coffee berry extract does contain some caffeine. Several studies have shown that caffeine can boost metabolism by up to 3-11% (3, 4). However, the most active ingredient is believed to be chlorogenic acid. Some human studies suggest that it can reduce the absorption of carbohydrates from the alimentary canal, which lowers blood glucose and insulin spikes (5, 6).
